THE maternity unit in St John's Hospital had to wait until late in the morning for its first Christmas arrival this year.

Elizabeth Michele Carson was born at 9.27am to proud parents Eddie and Morag, from Seafield near Blackburn.

Mum Morag went into labour two days before Christmas and the tot weighed in at a healthy 6lb 8ozs on December 25.

"It's the best Christmas present anyone could ever ask for and we are so proud," said Eddie. "It's really special having a baby on Christmas Day.

"We'd like to thank all the staff at St John's for their help in delivering our daughter. Morag got first class treatment and we couldn't have asked for more."
