Double the fun with festival attractions

A DOUBLE celebration is set to bring twice the fun to a West Lothian park with the launch of the Bathgate Music Festival and the Boghall Family Fun Day this Sunday.

Scottish folk rock legends Skerryvore will kick off a packed afternoon of live music from 11:45am in the Town's Kirkton Park, followed by performances by the cream of the local music scene including rising stars, The Fire and I.

There will also be bouncy castles, children's rides and many displays from local organisations, as well as one or two surprises on the day.

The recently-formed Friends of Kirkton Park (FKP), in partnership with West Lothian Council, organised the combined special event along with main sponsor Farmer Autocare.

Pat McGinley, who runs the company's franchise in Bathgate's Mid Street, said: "We are delighted to be the main sponsor of Party in the Park, and are looking forward to an excellent event for the whole Bathgate community."

Stuart MacDonald, chairman of FKP, added: "Party in the Park is an excellent opportunity to explore the fantastic facility that is Kirkton Park."

The activities will run at the park on Edinburgh Road, near Bathgate Academy, from 10:30am-5pm.

Chairperson of Boghall Fun Day and secretary of FKP, Lindsay Colman, said: "We are looking forward to a busy day full of fun packed things to entertain, including some local acts performing on the day."

Local councillor Jim Walker will officially open proceedings on Sunday.
