Punk tribute band to cause a riot in Vegas
AN AGEING band from West Lothian spearheading a punk revival is set to go Stateside to perform a gig.
Cash From Chaos has been booked into a popular Las Vegas bar just off the famous Strip for a special one-off performance on September 12 in the Double Down Saloon.
But the band is also making its mark on the local gig scene as its popularity grows throughout West Lothian and right through Scotland's Central Belt.
The five-piece band is made up of singer George Thom, 42, lead guitarist Alex Still, rhythm guitarist Paul Miller, drummer and backing vocalist Lizzie Carlyle and her husband Mark, 41, from Bathgate, on bass.
The tribute act is one of a host of bands from West Lothian dedicated to the anarchic rejuvenated 70s punk phenomenon.
"We do loads of gigs locally and have been doing some in Edinburgh and have one coming up in Glasgow as well, supporting a Stranglers tribute act," said 37-year-old Lizzie, who works for West Lothian Council as her day job.
"We can't wait to play in Vegas, though.
"We've been over there to visit friends a few times and just thought we'd see if we could get a gig there. We e-mailed the venue and they booked us straight away.
"We know we can't recreate the punk attitude but it still has a huge following and people still love to hear the songs from the days when everybody thought they were immortal and knew better than everyone else.
"The Double Down is a great punk venue and is well known for that. The band is loving the gigs and is really looking forward to September."
