Take note of another fantastic fest line-up
WEST Lothian's biggest and brightest music festival is back this month with dozens of performances and events.
Next Sunday (12 September) sees the opening of the third week-long Bathgate Music Festival promising packed venues all across town, including open-air gigs.
The festival opens with a free family fun day in Kirkton Park where local bands including Fire and I, Columbia and the Amorettes will provide the soundtrack to a day of circus skills, street football and a host of other exciting performers.
The Regal Theatre is the venue for the main concert programme which this year reflects the wealth of modern music produced in Scotland – from the powerful voices of Caledon to the madcap musical arson of Pluck, harmony outfit the Bevvy Sisters and the timeless style of Ken Mathieson's Classic Jazz Orchestra.
Trad-rockers Skerryvore will fill the building on Sunday after the fun day.
A spokeswoman for the festival said: "It offers something for everyone. Small children can enjoy a free session of Mini Music Makers on Wednesday morning, festival musicians Dave Trouton and Greg Sinclair are taking music workshops to nursery and primary schools and Pluck will bring musical mayhem to primary school visitors to the Regal.
"Skerryvore, Pluck and the Bevvy Sisters will work with, and entertain, the pupils of Bathgate Academy. It promises to be another great year."
The full programme from 12-18 September, is in the festival brochure available now from shops and venues all over Bathgate and from libraries, community information and education centres across West Lothian.
