EMERGENCY services searched a canal for a body following a call from a passer-by only to find a plastic pair of boobs.

The search was sparked at Linlithgow's Union Canal, near Preston Road, last Friday after a concerned local thought they saw a "pair of knees" sticking out of the water at around 3.20pm.

Police attended before calling the fire service to carry out a search in the water, but it turned out to be a false alarm when the plastic breasts were recovered shortly after 4.20pm.

A police spokesman said: "Police received a message from someone walking past but the debris turned out to be a pair of false breasts." The fire service assisted the search in the water."
