A 47-YEAR-OLD Livingston man has been killed in a crash on a busy motorway.

John McQuade was struck by a passing tanker as he adjusted the straps on his lorry on the hard shoulder of the A74 near to junction 7 southbound.

Mr McQuade was hit around 7am on Monday, February 1, and rushed by ambulance to Wishaw General Hospital. He died a short time later.

The 43-year-old driver of the tanker was not injured.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
