Rape victim tells of abduction ordeal at hands of 'evil psycho'
A RAPE victim has described her terror as she was subjected to repeated attacks and kept prisoner in a car boot during an eight-hour ordeal.
Siadaire Robinson, 28, was hit over the head with a hammer, repeatedly raped and throttled until she passed out. She eventually managed to escape by jumping from a moving vehicle.
Her attacker, IT worker Ewan Mackay, 30, from Whitburn, this week admitted abducting, raping and attempting to murder her and now faces a life sentence in jail for his despicable crimes.
Police have said they believed he may be a serial rapist and appealed for other victims to come forward.
However, Mackay escaped jail after a previous attack. He was given a "chance to put his life in order" by a judge in 2001 after being convicted of strangling teenager Kirsty Kennedy with a sock.
Ms Kennedy, now 27, said: "There was never any doubt he was going to try to kill someone again."
Mackay picked up Ms Robinson in the early hours of December 6 last year as she worked as a prostitute in Leith and drove her to the West Telferton industrial estate in Portobello.
Ms Robinson said: "I was immediately worried because he said absolutely nothing – he was very weird.
"He then grabbed me and tried to rape me while screaming 'Women are whores' at me."
Mackay throttled her until she passed out and she woke to find herself in the boot with a hammer lying beside her.
"He stopped the car and dragged me out of the boot. I tried to get away, but he chased me and smashed me with the hammer. He raped me again and again. It was hell. I kept begging for my life and asking if he was going to kill me.
"The next thing I knew I was in the boot again and the car was moving. I must have passed out. I had blood all over my face and he had broken bones in my fingers and smashed my legs with the hammer.
"I was screaming, but there was no-one around – and the car was moving so I knew it wasn't over."
The court heard Mackay took Ms Robinson to his house in Glenmore, Whitburn.
After dragging her inside, he got a large knife and put duct tape over her mouth and on her wrists.
The woman heard a noise and Mackay said: "You've woke my son. Look what you've done."
Outside the house, Mackay put her back into the car's front passenger seat, but she jumped out and ran for help by alerting one of Mackay's neighbours, who called police.
The incident sparked a stand-off between armed police and Mackay as the road was sealed off before his son was handed out to negotiators and he eventually gave himself up.
Ms Robinson said: "He's a vicious, evil psycho and should never get out of jail.
"All I could think about was my family and how I would never see them again."
She suffered a fractured skull and hands and blood clots in her lung and was in St John's Hospital, Livingston, for a month after her ordeal.
Temporary judge Rita Rae QC ordered a full risk assessment on Mackay and remanded him in custody until sentencing in November.
In the Glenmore area, neighbour Louise Doolan said the horrific crime had left an indelible mark on the neighbourhood.
She said: "I used to say hello to him, but another neighbour was terrified because she used to speak to him."
