Survivor dog in running for award
A DOG who was given months to live but survived to compete at Crufts is up for a national award.
Scrooble, a Border collie from Bathgate, has been shortlisted for an award in a national competition called the Pet Factor.
The National Office of Animal Health (NOAH) launched the competition in October to remind owners of the importance of basic pet care including exercise and a healthy diet.
Scrooble's proud owner Sara Hawkswell said: "Scrooble was diagnosed with cancer in 2006 and was only given months to live.
"He then underwent a long programme of chemotherapy at the Royal (Dick) Veterinary School in Edinburgh, but he managed to remain cheery throughout and made great friends with the nurses at the hospital.
"He has now fully recovered and has been off treatment for three years. He has gone on to compete in the fly-ball finals at Crufts in 2008 and we're just so proud of him. We'd love him to receive this award for all he's been through."
To vote for Scrooble and see the rest of the shortlisted pets visit www.pethealthinfo.org.uk. Voting closes this Sunday.
