Town set for major revamp

A MAJOR urban expansion in Winchburgh has been given the green light by planning officials.

More than 3,000 new homes and a series of multi-million -pound expansion projects for transport, infrastructure, education, public art and town centre improvements will now go ahead as part of the council's 15-year local plan strategy in Scotland's fastest growing area.

The development will mean 2.5 million for secondary schooling in West Lothian; 1m to extend Holy Family Primary School and make improvements to the joint Holy Family/Winchburgh Primary School building and grounds; land for 31 affordable houses with 2.08m for investment; improvements to public transport; and contributions to cemetery provision, art and town centre improvements.
