BATHGATE Thistle boss Graeme Love is hoping his side can give him another five-star performance in Saturday's Emirates Scottish Junior Cup quarter-final with Bo'ness United.

It was high fives all round for the Jags last weekend when they saw off Super League basement boys
Glenrothes in the fourth round match following a six-week layoff due to cancelled matches.

Super striker Jim Lister scored four goals in the 5-1 rout at Bathgate's Creamery Park, which will now host a mouth-watering last eight tie against Super League leaders Bo'ness as cup fever once again grips Bathgate.

Both sides have tasted victory in junior football's most sought-after prize. The Jags' win came in 2008 and Bo'ness have won it three times, the last one in 1984.

They are hot favourites to progress to the last four in 2010, but Thistle boss Love has other ideas.

He said: "It was a good result and a good performance against Glenrothes considering we hadn't had a game for six weeks but I was really confident going into the match.

"I think we'll need an even better performance against Bo'ness though as they'll be favourites, but we've certainly no fears going into the game.

"We know what we'll get but I think we're a match for anyone on our day.

"The good thing for me is, taking Saturday out of the equation with Jim scoring four, we've got goals coming from all over the park and the guys are creating chances.

"Jim's had a good season even though he hasn't been able to train with us because of work commitments and it seems to be having the opposite effect to what not training usually has. He'll always give us what he's got even when he's absolutely knackered."

Love also revealed he had his eye on a few Bo'ness players but wasn't able to sign them.

He added: "They've got a lot of experience, especially in Derek Fleming who I would have loved to have had here.

"I tried to sign him but couldn't get a package together. He's got great ability and is one that can create chances.

"Roger Duffin is another player I like and Chris McFadyen should never have left Bathgate.

"It's going to be tough, in front of a big crowd, but it should be interesting. If we can start the way we did against Glenrothes at a high tempo then we could create an upset."

The Jags were three goals to the good within the first ten minutes against Glenrothes following a penalty from Alex Lurinski after Brian McColligan was fouled in the area two minutes in.

Lister then started his one-man demolition job three minutes later when he rounded the keeper after latching on to a through ball from Gary Fallon and his second came via his head, this time from Fallon's free-kick on ten minutes.

The visitors pulled it back to 3-1 five minutes later with a superb 25-yeard effort from John Martin as Glenrothes fought to keep the tie alive.

But it was dead and buried ten minutes into the second half when Jags' talisman Lister completed his hat-trick.

Centre-half Alan Neill headed McColligan's corner towards goal and, like all good strikers, Lister was in the right place at the right time to fire home inside the six-yard box. The rout was complete with 22 minutes to go when Lister used his head again to force Willie Wilson's cross home.

Elsewhere in the juniors, Harthill were thrashed 11-1 at home to Bonnyrigg in the East of Scotland Cup; Armadale beat Penicuik 3-1 away in the Premier Division; Broxburn also won 3-1 on the road at Sauchie and Stoneyburn drew 1-1 away at Haddington in the South Division.

In the Super League, Whitburn lost 2-0 at home to Lochee; Bo'ness were beaten at home 2-1 by Kelty Hearts; and Linlithgow beat Camelon 3-2.

Linlithgow are also on Scottish Cup duty on Saturday with an away tie against Whitletts Victoria. Scottish Cup ties kick off at 2.15pm.
