THE only team that can stop Livingston claiming the Third Division title are themselves, reckons East Stirling No.2 Davie Nicholls after seeing his team beaten 2-0 at Almondvale on Tuesday night.

Andrew Halliday's 12th goal of the campaign and Robbie Winters' 11th increased Livi's lead at the summit to seven points and Nicholls said: "Too many of our players never showed up. Livi are well on their way to the title."

Halliday nodded home from close range in 34 minutes after a fine delivery from on-loan Hearts right-back Jonny Brown had set up the chance.

And Winters wrapped things up seven minutes after the break when he curled home a superb shot from 18 yards out.

Teenage sensation Halliday, 19, has been attracting scouts from the Old Firm and Hibs and Hearts, as well as the likes of Middlesbrough and West Ham.

It was a good night for Livi elsewhere too, as all of their main rivals lost, with Queen's Park returning from Forfar with a 1-0 victory and Berwick losing 4-1 at Albion Rovers.

Livingston manager Gary Bollan said: "It's fair to say the title is ours to lose now."
