JUNIORS ROUND-UP: Rose get back on the cup trail
THE junior football season has kicked off in earnest with county clubs involved in high scoring affairs, despite a mixed bag of results, in the Dechmont Forklift League Cup last weekend.
Junior Scottish Cup holders Linlithgow Rose put four past Pumpherston with no reply as they showed their visitors no mercy at Prestonfield.
Pumphy were no match for the hosts and McArthur was on the scoresheet early for Rose with a finish from eight yards.
It took until 12 minutes into second half for Rose to extend their lead through a McLennan header, before King added a third in the 67th minute. McArthur got his second of the game on 86 minutes.
Broxburn hit the goal trail against a lacklustre Dalkeith side in a 6-1 demolition job at the newly refurbished Albyn Park.
Chris Geddes got the first for the home side after just five minutes. This was followed by a John Jeffrey double before Geddes was on target for his second on the half hour mark.
Dalkeith replied with a goal from Finlayson on 66 minutes but Geddes bagged his hat-trick from the spot when Liddle was brought down by Millar, who saw red for the offence. Craig then rounded off the scoring with five minutes to go for Broxburn.
Bathgate Thistle and Sauchie shared the spoils at Creamery Park in a 1-1 draw, despite the away side only having ten men for the whole of the second half.
Sauchie keeper Hardie was sent packing for a clumsy challenge on Jeffrey just outside his area just before the half-time whistle blew.
Despite the setback, Sauchie's ten men took the lead on 63 minutes through Morgan.
However, Bathgate winger Alex Lurinsky levelled the match.
Armadale slumped to a home deafeat in five-thriller at the hands of Spartans Juniors with three goals from Nicky Reid.
Fauldhouse United got off to a flier in an impressive 4-1 away win over Edinburgh, while West Calder were beaten 2-1 on the road to Newtongrange.
Two goals in the last ten minutes gave Blackburn the points against county rivals Stoneyburn, while Whitburn Juniors were beaten 3-1 at home to Super League champs Bo'Ness,
Camelon routed Harthill 6-2, who then lost 7-0 at Stoneyburn.
