Lions drive deal to rename Almondvale

LIVINGSTON'S Almondvale Stadium will be renamed after the club sold the rights to a local company for a five-figure sum in a major sponsorship deal announced on Tuesday.

The 10,000 capacity all-seater stadium will now be known as the Braidwood Motor Company Stadium until the end of the 2012-13 season after a three-year naming rights agreement was reached with the West Lothian-based car company.

Club sources say the new deal is worth a five-figure sum to Livingston over the three-year period of the sponsorship, but refused to say exactly how much.

Charles Burnett, Livingston's commercial director, said: "Braidwood have been good friends of the club for a number of years now and we're delighted that they have chosen to strengthen their association with us.

"We are working hard to build relationships with West Lothian businesses and, as well as being an important deal from a financial perspective, we see it as a big vote of confidence from the local community as we look to build a successful and sustainable future."

Braidwood Motor Company is a family-run business based in Pumpherston, which has been sourcing and selling cars over the past 16 years.

Braidwood's Neil Hogarth, a keen Livingston supporter, said: "We're very pleased to be putting our name to a stadium we have enjoyed visiting on many occasions in the past.

"From a commercial perspective, it's a great opportunity to raise awareness of our business at a local and national level and we wish Livingston good luck and continued success at The Braidwood Motor Company Stadium over the next three years."

Livingston were promoted last season after winning the Third Division title and are keen to return to the First Division from where they were relegated for falling into administration for the second time following Angelo Massone's disastrous reign.
