Livi breeze to win over Spartans

LIVINGSTON began the build-up for their SFL Second Division campaign with a comfortable 4-1 win over East of Scotland League champions Spartans at Ainslie Park.

Lions boss Gary Bollan gave debuts to recent signings Tony Bullock from Dundee, Michael O'Byrne (Albion Rovers) and Iain Russell (Morton) while Aaron Conway (East Fife) was on the bench.

Spartans gave starts to their new signings, defender Chris Townsley from Alloa Athletic and Jack Beesley (Edinburgh University).

Russell proved that he will be a valuable addition to the squad for Livingston when he scored twice in the first half – once after just two minutes, and again just before half-time.

The second half had only just began when Kyle Jacobs bagged a third goal, before Malone struck a ferocious shot for the fourth.

Spartans never gave up though, and Alex King pulled one back late on.
