Livi champagne on ice

THE champagne is on ice at Almondvale following Tuesday night's cancellation of the home match against Berwick Rangers.

Raffaele De Vita's ninth goal of the season in the 1-0 win over Queen's Park on Saturday had set the Lions up for a title party this week, but a waterlogged Shielfield Park put the dampers on any planned celebrations.

If Livi had played and beaten Berwick the Third Division title could have been theirs after closest rivals East Stirling's 4-1 defeat at Forfar.

However, a win away to Annan Athletic on Saturday would seal the title for Gary Bollan's men with seven games to spare if Albion Rovers and Forfar both fail to win following Tuesday's results.

Livi's under-19s were also due to play Celtic in the SFA Youth Cup at Parkhead last night.

Coach Brian Welsh said on Tuesday: "This is a game all the boys have been looking forward to."
