A PUNK revival night is set to rock Bathgate this month.
Straighten Out, one of the top tribute acts to The Stranglers, are playing The Lounge in Bathgate'
s Hopetoun Street on 27 March, supported by Cash From Chaos, who will play a catalogue of classic punk songs.
The gig will transport ageing punks and rockers on a nostalgia trip back to those raw, powerful, exhilarating times when The Stranglers emerged through the quagmire of mediocrity to produce some of the finest tunes ever written.
The growling bass sound and the quirky guitar riffs will be heard again as will the dual vocal "attack" from the two frontmen a la Burnel-Cornwell as they rip through all the classics like Peaches, Hanging Around, No More Heroes, 5 Minutes, The Raven, Walk On By, Straighten Out, Down In The Sewer and as many covers as they can fit into their two-hour set.
Cash From Chaos, a West Lothian-based band formed in April 2007, pay tribute to the punk bands of the late seventies and early eighties like the Sex Pistols, The Clash, Stiff Little Fingers, the Damned, Rezillos, The Ramones and Dead Kennedys.
In 2009 the band played a long list of gigs including the Nice n' Sleazy Festival in Morecambe, the Double Down Saloon in Las Vegas and the famous punk venue Hope and Anchor in London.
They have also supported The Members and The Vibrators in Edinburgh.
Bass player Mark Carlyle, from Bathgate, said: "Back in the day there was a big punk presence in Bathgate and Livingston.
"We feel there should be quality bands of this genre playing more often in West Lothian.
"We have the number one Stranglers tribute band coming to Bathgate and also The Clash tribute Combat Rock playing the same venue on 28 August so things are looking good and there's a lot of interest in the gigs."
Tickets are £5 for the 27 March gig. For more information contact Mr Carlyle on 07739 427 984, or visit his website at www.cash-from-chaos.com
